| FEARS & PHOBIAS At first glance there may not appear to be much difference between a fear and a phobia so perhaps a simple example may help. Let's
take a fear of spiders; now everyone knows that a spider (in the UK) cannot possibly
do you any harm at all. This fear has no basis in reality, it is completely irrational
but thousands of people are terrified of them. This is not then a fear it is a
phobia. The difference though is utterly irrelevant to someone who is horror struck
by the sight of one of them. Now
let's take flying as an example. Very, very rarely an aircraft will crash; this
is a fact but it can happen. On the face of it then there exists a genuine reason
for fear. Another fact is that flying is an incredibly safe thing to do, far and
away more safe than getting in your car and driving to the local shops. I doubt
though, if anyone reading this will think twice about getting in a car (although
possible of course) so if this fear affects whether or not you enjoy a holiday
in the sun then it is an unreasonable and certainly unwanted fear. Right! That's out of the way. The good news is that in both cases Hypnotherapy can help. Some fears & phobias can be treated by suggestion therapy in just one session whilst others, more deeply seated, with perhaps a root cause of a traumatic event way back in the past, may only respond to a longer period of Hypnoanalysis. One of the reasons that I give Free Consultations is so that we can determine what form of treatment will be best for you.Click here for a list of phobias |
